Ian Crawford

Ian Crawford is an astronomer turned planetary scientist, and is currently Professor of Planetary Science and Astrobiology at Birkbeck College, University of London. His research interests mainly concern lunar science, astrobiology, and the future of space exploration, which he believes will become increasingly important for the future of humanity. Ian has recently written papers on the space governance implications of astrobiology including “Who speaks for humanity? The need for a single political voice” (2021) and “Expanding Worldviews: Astrobiology, Big History and Cosmic Perspectives” (2021), as well as a review of Daniel Deudney’s book on space geopolitics, Dark Skies (2022).
